Pinewood Guitars is just me, Mark, in my shed. This sounds bad, but it's a big shed and I have lots of tools. I also have over 20 years of experience playing, repairing, maintaining and setting up acoustic, electric and bass guitars.

Set up (£40 - £55)

A good set up can make all the difference to how your guitar feels in your hands. A correctly set playing action which allows all notes to ring true can transform a guitar which just doesn't feel right.

Tastes vary from player to player, so I like to spend some time with you on collection, making sure you're happy with how your guitar plays, feels and sounds.

A setup will include:

Check and clean electronic components
Clean and condition the fretboard,
Address sharp fret edges,
Polish frets,
Fit new strings and stabilise tuning (Price of strings not included)
Check and adjust neck relief,
String height (action) -
Check and adjust the nut,
Adjust pickup height
Set intonation

Fret Levelling £80 (includes set up)

Fret levelling is carried out to make sure all of your frets are the same height. This is extremely important on a fretted instrument, minimising fret buzz and eliminating high or low frets which in extreme cases can cause consecutive frets to play the same note.

I will straighten the neck, then file your frets to the same height using a long sanding beam.

Next, I'll crown the frets with a file, so that they are smooth and rounded, with the peak of the frets all at the same height.

Once the frets are levelled and crowned, I'll sand and polish them to a shine.

Finally, your guitar will be set up, as detailed above.

Your guitar will be protected from damage at all times using masking tape and neck support.

I am not currently in a position to offer re-frets but can help to decide if your guitar needs new frets or the existing ones levelled.

Deep Clean (£30)

A deep clean, making your guitar shine and protecting metal parts from corrosion. I'll disassemble your guitar and clean everything, including switches and pots.
I'll lubricate all moving parts and make sure your guitar comes back playing the same as when you left it. (neck relief, string height and pickup height will be measured before I begin cleaning and returned to these measurements when I have finished)

Repair (£20 p/h)

I'll repair any broken parts, where possible, and will replace any irreparable parts with identical or superior parts unless you say otherwise.
I'll assess the damage and then give you a quote for parts and labour, offering options on parts where possible.

Revival Set Up (£115 including strings)

This encompasses fret levelling, a deep clean and a set up. First, your guitar will be dismantled and cleaned inside and out, including the electronics. I'll level, crown and polish the frets, condition the fingerboard, then put everything back together (including a new set of strings) and carry out a full set up.

Modifications (prices here)

Sometimes (always!) we want to modify our guitars. Whether it's new pickups, fitting an upgraded bridge or installing a killswitch, I'd be delighted to help. I fully understand that making a change can be stressful so I aim to make things as collaborative as possible - it's your guitar and you should have the final say.
